. First
step: book a conference. The
best way to obtain legal assistance is
to make an appointment for a conference
(see my contact details
below).
At a conference your case can be
considered and expert legal advice
provided. You will find out how it is
possible to win your case, what the
costs are likely to be, and what sort
of time frame you should expect. If the
case is not likely to win, you will be
advised of that at the conference or
once all of the case has been examined.
The best time to book a conference is
after you have been given a court date.
A standard conference costs $250.00.
That is all you need to spend to find
out if it is worth it for you to invest
any more money pursuing your case
through the court system. If your case
has merit, then you can decide whether
to take it further. But
I don't live in
Melbourne. If
you don't live in Melbourne or can not
find time to come and see me, then you
should send all of your paperwork to my
postal
address
in an overnight express post envelope,
together with payment
of $250.00
which is the minimum fee I charge for
opening a file. Include a contact
telephone number and I will be in touch
with you within a few days to discuss
your case. I
have received a traffic infringement
notice. Should I come and see
you? You
can come and see me at any stage of
your case. I can check the validity of
the infringement notice and give you
advice if the notice is invalid,
otherwise I will most likely advise you
to object to the infringement notice if
you are trying to save your licence.
After you get your court papers you
will need a further conference with me
to discuss the court case. Standard
conferences cost $250. I suggest to
people that they object to the
infringement notice and then make an
appointment to see me after they
receive the court papers. If you have
received an infringement notice,
there is not much anyone can do to help
you until you have the charge and
summons, just like an obstetrician
can't do much for you unless you are
pregnant. The process for
objecting to a charge and summons is
explained here. I
had a major incident last night and I
am freaking out about it. Should I come
and see you? You
can come and see me at any stage of
your case, but there is not much a
lawyer can do if you have not yet been
charged with anything. One option is to
wait for the police to serve you with a
charge and summons and then make an
appointment to see me when you have
your court papers. If you have been
given any paperwork that affects your
right to drive (such as a Notice of
Immediate Suspension under s.51, or a
VicRoads notice of suspension) then you
should book a conference
immediately. How
can I fax or email documents to
you? Please
do not fax or email any documents to me
unless I expressly ask you to. You
should bring all relevant papework with
you when you come in for a conference.
Emails with attachments sent to
my "contact@" email address will not be
downloaded or read. If I need you to
email me a document, I will give you an
email address you can send it to.
I will read your faxed documents
if you complete and fax the
credit
card
authorisation.
Your credit card will be debited
$250.00 being the cost of opening a
file and receiving intial advice. If I
do not have a file open for you, I will
not take time to read any faxed or
scanned documents from you. My
first court date is in 3 weeks time so
I need to see you urgently.
You do not need
to see me urgently. You should see me
at least 1 day prior to the mention
date stated in your summons. You can
then ignore the mention date unless you
are on bail. No mention date
is ever urgent so I won't put
urgent work on hold just so I can see
you three weeks before a mention date.
Your case will not be heard on the date
stated in the summons.
Usually
your court case will not be heard for
at least 3 months after the date stated
in the summons. The
court papers you have received tell
you
that your case will not be heard on the
date stated in the
summons. What
hours are available for a
conference? I
am available most days at 4PM and 5PM.
Occassionally when I am not in court I
can schedule a conference to start
between 8AM and 4PM. These conferences
cost $250.00. Conferences after
6PM or on weekends cost $300.
Allow an hour for the
conference. What
sort of payment is
acceptable? Do
you provide any free
consultation? All my free time is spent answering
your questions for free on the
TrafficLaw forum.
Nevertheless, I can provide a
free
consultation in certain
circumstances. Where
are you located? Level
9, 555 Lonsdale St. Melbourne.
[Map] Parking:
there is 2 hour parking in the vicinity
of Flagstaff Gardens and in Little
Lonsdale St. After 4PM, there is
unlimited off-street parking for $5.00
at the Royal Mint car park, rear of 280
William St (between Latrobe St and
Little Lonsdale St). There is one hour
meter parking in Lonsdale St all day,
and numerous commercial carparks in the
area that charge nearly as much as I
do. How
can I book a conference? Contact
me: The best way to leave a message for
me is to send an email. . . . |
